Play Area For The Kids

The church we stayed at in St Marc Haiti is also a school. Over time God has blessed that area with sponsors for the children so the school has been growing. As it is now the children have almost no room to play and hang out in the parking area or in the classroom area.

As the school has grown Pastor Marcel has been looking for an area for the kids to play at. A piece of land close to the school came up for sale and the church bought it. The area is covered in rocks and had goats (so lots of goat pellets).
Land for new playground
The kids are excited to have a play area and in Haiti everyone helps out, so one of the school days was set aside for the kids to help clear the land. It was amazing to see all the kids working with no complaints and most had a smile.
Some men from the church had marked the parameters with a string so the children knew where to place the rocks they gathered, that was the base for the wall that will go around the play ground.
The teachers helped keep the wall straight

Our plans had changed for the day so our team got to work with the kids. The kids were using whatever they could find to haul rocks in. The smaller kids had lids, plates and broken bowls that they would put small rocks in and then dump in a bucket that the bigger kids would carry. We had a great time bonding with the kids.
Such hard workers

Everybody pitched in
I couldn't help but compare the Haitian children with American children, in America there would be an uprising and the parents would have a fit if the schools cancelled class for a day so the kids could work on the school grounds. In Haiti everyone is excited to help out the church and school and it's a project that will benefit the entire community so they all pitch in.
There are rocks everywhere!!
Even the little bitty ones help
Thank you everyone for your encouragement and prayers in my journey to show the love of Jesus to others. As always I'm looking forward to the next opportunity to go. If you would like to help you a can always give through PayPal by clicking on this link.
